If you have a destructive dog, it can be difficult to keep them entertained with long-lasting toys. You probably know the feeling of joy you get when you come home from the store and gift your pup a brand new toy, only for them to demolish it within minutes of unwrapping it.

Regular trips to the pet store for replacements can become expensive and inconvenient if you lead a busy lifestyle. Fortunately, there are some tough and durable toys available that were designed specifically with dogs who love destroying things in mind.

In this blog post, I’ll be exploring some great options for long lasting toys that my Labrador Retriever Pit Bull mix Lily personally loves.

The KONG Wobbler Dog Toy is an interactive treat dispensing toy that is perfect for keeping your dog entertained and engaged. The unique, wobbly design keeps your dog guessing as to where the next tasty reward will come from, providing hours of fun.

The Wobbler can also be used as an alternative to a dog bowl, helping to slow and extend mealtimes while providing valuable exercise.

The KONG Wobbler was one of the first toys Lily ever got and 9 years later, it’s still good as new!

Kong Flyer is a durable rubber flying disc dog toy that makes for a softer catch during fetch as well as encourages lots of healthy exercise.

Before we got the KONG Flyer, we would play fetch with a regular hard frisbees. They would be at first, but they would get chewed up pretty quickly which lead to sharp edges and a little bleeding from Lily’s mouth.

The red rubber frisbee is soft and flexible which is much more forgiving on dogs’ mouths.

In the 9 years I’ve had Lily, we’re only on our second Kong Flyer.

The Jolly Pets Tug-n-Toss Ball is designed to be thrown and easily retrieved with the easy grip handle. The handle also has a tendency to make the ball bounce erratically, almost as if it is trying to get away from the dog chasing it down.

Because it floats, it’s also great for fetch games in the water.

While Lily has been able to chew this toy up a bit more than the first two on the list and even though it is now deflated, she still loves to play with it. Depending on your dog, you will probably get a few months out of this ball in it’s original form, but even if your dog manages to deflate the ball there’s no need to throw it away.

Like the KONG Flyer, we are on our second Tug-n-Toss Ball.

I had originally written about a KONG Cozie stuffed toy that Lily had for a few weeks before tearing it apart.

I had somehow overlooked the fact that she had another stuffed toy that she has had for years – the KONG Cozie Ultra.

Notice the difference – there’s the Kong Cozie and then there’s the Kong Cozie Ultra.

The difference appears to be the Ultra-Tex fabric construction designed to withstand chewing and tearing. The ripstop material and reinforced seams are supported by a robust interior liner.

Like I said, we have had this toy for years. I am impressed with how well it has held up.

This dog rope toy has a loop on one end and three knots in the middle that make playing tug-of-war easier for dogs and humans. When my dog sinks her teeth into the rope it is very difficult to pry it free.

In addition to being a tug-of-war toy, Lily also seems to enjoy chewing on the knots.

Over the years, we’ve had a few different rope toys and they all seem to last a few months before they break apart. Of course, Lily is perfectly happy with continue playing with the smaller pieces.

Long Lasting Toys for Destructive Dogs

If you have a destructive dog who loves to chew and destroy their toys, you know how hard it can be to find long lasting toys for them to play with. There are plenty of toys that claim to be indestructible or chew-proof, but very few that actually are.

The first three items I talked about are all made of rubber, which seems to be the best material for getting toys to last a long time. However, I’ve included a couple more options to give you some variety.

You may have noticed that KONG brand toys showed up a lot in this list, and that’s not by mistake. I’ve found that they make quality products that I can trust.

If these are long lasting toys for a Labrabull who loves to tear up her toys, they should last a long time for most dogs.
