The Poy Pet No Pull Harness is currently the harness I use for my Jack Russell Terrier, and it works fantastic and certainly eliminates her ability to pull on the lead.
Not only does it get rid of unwanted pulling, but it is also a reflective harness and comes as an adjustable soft pad to keep your Jack Russell comfortable.
I also love that it is available in 10+ color options.
The price, quality, sizing, and color options are certainly a good benefit but the reduced pulling in addition to those benefits is what caused it to be ranked the #1 dog harness for a Jack Russell Terrier, in my opinion.

What Is the Best Harness for A Jack Russell Terrier?
A Jack Russell Terrier has a unique personality, and if you have a young Jack Russell Terrier, it is easy to understand what is going to make for the best harness.
Any harness that gives you comfortable control of your Jack Russell is a harness I would rank at the top or as one of the best.
No pull harnesses undoubtedly get the job done, such as the 3 harnesses we have already broken down thus far.
This is critical for a Jack Russell Terrier.
They get easily distracted when they are young and before they have been appropriately trained.
This means that any car, family walking by, or even a rabbit is going to excite your Jack Russell and cause them to naturally want to pull.
Without using a no-pull harness, you will become more frustrated performing activities such as walking or running.
Trust me, I have been there, and now I always use my Poy Pet Harness with a retractable leash.
It works for me, takes 2 seconds to put on her and keeps us both happy and safe during any exercise.
Best No Pull Harnesses for Jack Russell’s
To effectively purchase the best no-pull harness for a Jack Russell, your job is relatively easy.
Any of the no-pull harnesses we have already mentioned are great options.
In all honesty, if you can find any no-pull harness that fits your Jack Russell Terrier snuggly and comfortable, it will get the job done.
Choosing the Correct Size Harness for A Jack Russell Terrier
Sizing is the most essential factor to make sure you get right when you purchase a harness for your Jack Russell.
It makes a significant difference, and you want your harness to fit your Jack Russell comfortably while providing you with control during the walk.
Otherwise, you are basically wasting your time and money.
What Is the Best Sized Harness for A Jack Russell Terrier?
My Jack Russell Terrier is a female Jack Russell that is now 2 ½ years old.
She is not much over 10lbs, and I have always found that “small” is the best size to choose when purchasing a harness for your Jack Russell.
With many of the harnesses, you will have sizing charts included with the harness.
If this is the case, be sure to measure your Jack Russell in the recommended spots listed on the size chart to ensure a proper fit.
What If You Have A Smaller Jack Russell Terrier?
I would consider my Jack Russell as one of the Jack Russell’s that could be regarded as smaller than average.
She is a female and always has been very slender.
Currently she barely weighs over 10lbs, and she is full-grown at this point.
I have noticed some accessories such as harnesses, leashes, and even her muzzle that she did require the “extra small size.”
Again, my #1 recommendation for you is to choose a small or “extra small” harness for your Jack Russell and if the harness includes a size chart, be sure to follow the recommendations and guidelines to do a quick 3-minute measurement of your Jack Russell to ensure a proper fit.
Choose A Harness for Your Jack Russell Terrier Based on Your Needs and Goals
When choosing one of the best harnesses for your Jack Russell, it is essential to reflect on what you will typically be doing with your Jack Russell.
If you rarely go on walks or runs because you can provide the exercise in a large yard that they will not run away from, you may not even need a harness.
Although, I always at least recommend having a harness on standby for other situations such as taking your Jack Russell to the vet.
Nonetheless, you should be choosing your harness based on your goals.
If you are someone who routinely goes on a walk with your Jack Russell, be sure to get a no-pull harness.
Trust me, it is worth it in these situations and will make the walks and exercise with your Jack Russell much more enjoyable.
Even the Best Harness for A Jack Russell Requires Training to Work Perfectly
Another essential consideration to always keep in mind is that even the best harness for a Jack Russell Terrier does not replace the need to introduce and implement discipline and training.
A harness is meant to give you control in situations such as walking and running.
They are designed to not allow your Jack Russell to pull.
However, you need to be giving verbal commands and working with your Jack Russell not to pull during walks or runs to ensure that they learn this behavior.
The sooner you begin implementing this and socializing your Jack Russell, the less a no-pull harness will even be necessary.
It would be much more ideal to have a no-pull harness attached to our Jack Russell as a back-up or just in case-type situations instead of always needing it because your Jack Russell has not learned how to behave on a leash yet.
Be sure that you are always implementing verbal praise, verbal training, and positive reinforcement with your Jack Russell even if you have and use one of the best harnesses for a Jack Russell Terrier during the initial phases of raising your JR.
A Properly Fitted Harness for Your Jack Russell Can Make Life Much Easier
Using one of the best harnesses for your Jack Russell is a great first step towards making your job much easier when it comes to walking and other forms of exercise for your Jack Russell.
While plenty of harnesses will certainly get the job done, it is important to find a harness that helps you have the most control and least amount of anxiety during use.
Jack Russell’s are a dog breed that needs exercise and the opportunity to get out and about, so be sure to add a quality harness to your wish list and get it purchased before you get home with your new Jack Russell puppy.
Luna and I wish you the best of luck with your new Jack Russell’s and the harness you choose.
